The Attorneys and Staff at FMR are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day, on March 8, 2024.
The first International Women's Day was held in March 1911. IWD is not a single country, group or specific organization. It is a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging women's equality.
IWD is a day to:
- Celebrate women's achievement.
- Raise awareness about discrimination.
- Take action to drive gender parity.
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, partnering with other groups, has called for an International Women’s Day theme to “Inspire Inclusion,” noting that:
When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.
According to the UN, one of the key challenges in achieving gender equality is a lack of financing or spending on gender-equality measures. United Nations Women have designated this year’s IWD theme: “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”.
