Jeffrey M. Silverstein is a Partner with Freking Myers & Reul, managing the Dayton office. Jeff concentrates on employment law and civil trial practice, especially in the areas of employment discrimination (age, sex, race, and disability), sexual harassment, employment contracts, wrongful discharge, civil service, civil rights and labor law. Jeff previously ran his own private practice for 30 years.

Jeff is licensed to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, and has litigated employment cases before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Federal Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio and in the Ohio Court of Claims, and the Common Pleas Courts of Montgomery, Greene, Franklin, Cuyahoga, Clermont, Clark, Warren, Butler, Trumbull and Miami counties. Jeff has represented clients in appeals to the Ohio Supreme Court, as well as Ohio’s Second, Eighth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth District Courts of Appeal.

Jeff has represented employees in administrative proceedings and has represented clients before various local civil service commissions, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Ohio State Personnel Board of Review, the Merit Systems Protection Board, the National Labor Relations Board, the Ohio State Employment Relations Board, the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System Board, and the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System Board. He regularly represents public sector employees, including law enforcement officers and firefighters, in pre-disciplinary meetings and investigatory interviews.

Jeff previously served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Ohio State Personnel Board of Review and in the civil division as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Montgomery County. He has been certified as a specialist in the field of Labor and Employment Law by the Ohio State Bar Association since 2002. Jeff has been a frequent speaker and panelist on the topics of employment law, discrimination, sexual harassment, disability law and civil rights. Jeff received his undergraduate degree from Boston University and his law degree from the University of Dayton. He is a member of the Dayton and Ohio State bar associations, and is a board member of the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association. He has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer since 2009 and is listed in Best Lawyers.
